Stiftelsen Skansen

Description

The Biological Museum in Stockholm was opened in 1893 on the initiative of conservator Gustaf Kolthoff. Right from the start, several hundred preserved birds and other animals were exhibited in a diorama with background paintings by the Swedish artist Bruno Liljefors. Since 1970 the Biological Museum has been part of the Skansen Foundation/Stiftelsen Skansen.
