LSID
Life Science Identifier (LSID):

LSIDs are persistent, location-independent,resource identifiers for uniquely naming biologically significant resources including species names, concepts, occurrences, genes or proteins, or data objects that encode information about them. To put it simply, LSIDs are a way to identify and locate pieces of biological information on the web.

Description

National Inventories of Landscapes in Sweden (NILS) has developed into a national environmental monitoring programme umbrella under which a number of monitoring programmes are gathered: the NILS Basic Inventory 2003-2020, the THUF Seashore inventory 2009- (ongoing), the NILS Grassland inventory 2020- (ongoing), the Descidious forest inventory 2020- (ongoing), the NILS Mountain area inventory 2003-2020.

Two thirds of the sample consists of permanent tracts and one third are temporary tracts. The permanent tracts are revisited every 5th year and the temporary tracts are only visited once. The true coordinates of the permanent sample plots are protected. The coordinates in this dataset are generalised, by randomly offsetting true coordinates with 200-1000 m.
